Manchester United are ready to accelerate a summer move for Sporting Lisbon star Viktor Gyokeres, L’Equipe has reported.
The Red Devils are reportedly ‘very active’ in their interest in the Sweden international and are looking to step up their pursuit after the Europa League final against Tottenham on Wednesday.
United’s chances of signing Gyokeres will be further boosted by a victory in Bilbao, which would secure qualification for next season’s Champions League and potentially offer more freedom in the transfer market.
Ruben Amorim knows Gyokeres well from their time together at Sporting and would be particularly keen on an Old Trafford reunion.

According to L’Equipe, Gyokeres’ suitors across the continent are ‘taking their time’ despite negotiating a lower transfer fee with Sporting, which could benefit Man United, who are believed to be the first major European club to have made a concrete move.
While there have also been links with Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain, the Red Devils are believed to be showing the strongest interest in Gyokeres at the moment as they look to bolster Amorim’s frontline with multiple signings this summer.
United are now in advanced talks to make Wolves forward Matheus Cunha their first arrival and are expected to target an out-and-out number nine as well, with both Gyokeres and Ipswich Town sensation Liam Delap being targeted.
Gyokeres, praised as ‘the hottest striker in Europe’, is expected to leave Sporting this summer, and it is believed a move for the Sweden international could cost in the region of €65m (£55m).
The 26-year-old joined Sporting from Coventry City in 2023 and has just over three years left on his contract, which runs until June 2028.
