There won't be many football fans out there who would disagree that when fit and on form, there's no better midfield in the Premier League right now than that of Newcastle United.
Liverpool have a fantastic midfield, but as was proved in the Carabao Cup final, there's no getting the better of Joelinton, Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimaraes when they're on their game.
You would probably expect former Liverpool star and completely, absolutely not at all biased pundit, Jamie Carragher to look to his former club to stack out his midfield for his Team of the Season regardless.
However, to give credit where it's due, while on the Stick To Football podcast, Carragher selected Sandro Tonali over Ryan Gravenberch.

After making his selection, Gary Neville asked Carragher which he'd take at Liverpool between Tonali and Guimaraes. Carragher opted for the Italian, giving pretty good reasons for it.
“Tonali, and I’ve only said that this season since he went to that [holding] role.
“Well, Guimaraes is one for me, I think he’s a good player — the Newcastle fans love him, but they love him that much that I sometimes think, am I watching the same game for how much they love him?
“I think he’s a really good player, but I think he lacks a bit of pace. I don’t know. I just like the pace and the power of Tonali.
“When I see him getting across people, closing people down and knocking people out of the way.
“That’s why I probably went for Tonali over Gravenberch, probably a little bit that was in my mind for how dominant Newcastle were in midfield [in the Carabao Cup final].”

The Bruno Guimaraes love is about much more than what he does on the pitch
We absolutely understand what Carragher means about Guimaraes, too. Obviously, we know why Newcastle fans love him so much, and it's not all about what he does on the pitch.
You just have to look at the video the Premier League put out yesterday to understand what it is about Bruno we love, but for us (well, most of us at NUFC Feed), it's Tonali all the way.
And we'd pick Bruno over Ryan Gravenberch, too, by the way, and I say that as a big fan of Gravenberch - I was really hoping the rumours linking him to Newcastle before his switch to Liverpool were true.
