Simon Rimmer was delighted after spotting Liverpool manager Arne Slot at a gig. The chef from Wallasey is a regular on TV screens thanks to the Channel 4 show Sunday Brunch, which he presents along with Tim Lovejoy.
Simon is also a massive Liverpool fan and often brings up his love of the Reds on the show with Tim, who supports Chelsea. He can usually be spotted at Anfield and away games.
Last night was particularly special as he met Liverpool head coach Arne Slot. Slot has masterminded Liverpool’s Premier League title this season, wrapping up the league with four games to spare.
The Reds were confirmed as champions following a 5-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur last month. Since then, Slot has given himself and the players some extra time off.
Slot was spotted again enjoying some free time with Simon at the Bruce Springsteen concert at the Co-op Live in Manchester. Nicknamed 'The Boss' he is currently in the UK for his 2025 European tour, officially named 'The Land Of Hope and Dreams.
Simon shared a picture of himself with Slot on Instagram and said: “Met the boss at the boss. Happy days #championslfc.”Many were delighted that Simon got the chance to meet one of his heroes.
One said: “A couple of true reds there.” Another said: “Two legends.” A third person commented: “That is so cool.” The post was shared on X/Twitter by a Liverpool fan @shornKOOMINS who joked: “Slot's still partying - went to see Springsteen in Manchester tonight.”
Last week, Slot was spotted at Ocean Beach in Ibiza, owned by Wayne Lineker. In various posts on social media, the Dutchman can be seen being welcomed onto the Ocean Beach stage with Queen's 'We Are the Champions' playing, while a group of women held up cards that read 'Champions!'
Wayne, the club's owner, also posted a picture of himself with Slot on Instagram, with the caption reading: “Caption this #YWNA” accompanied by a heart and clap emoji. He also posted a video of the Liverpool boss making his way to the DJ booth, with the caption: “No words. What a day”
Speaking to the ECHO this week about meeting the Liverpool coach, Wayne said: “It was amazing for me because I got three million views out of it. It was pure gold, amazing.
"He is a very, very nice man. He was very embarrassed about it all, but I had planned for him. He had zero chance of out-drinking me, though. He may be champion of the league, but I am the champion of Ibiza.”
Bruce Springsteen will play two nights at Anfield next month as part of the tour. Thousands will descend on L4 to watch the 75-year-old at the home of Liverpool FC on Wednesday, June 4 and Saturday June 7, 2025.
Liverpool will lift the Premier League trophy after the final game of the season against Crystal Palace at Anfield this Sunday (May 25). The parade will take place the following day, running from Allerton Maze to The Strand.
The ECHO will be providing live updates throughout the day on our website and social media pages.
