Liverpool are making progress in their pursuit of Bournemouth defender Milos Kerkez, journalist Fabrizio Romano has exclusively revealed on GIVEMESPORT’s Market Madness podcast.
The Premier League winners have identified the Hungary international as their primary target to strengthen at left-back and are now believed to be in club-to-club talks with Bournemouth over a transfer fee.
The Reds are also discussing personal terms with Kerkez, having received a green light from the 21-year-old over a summer switch to Anfield.
Liverpool Making Progress on Kerkez Deal
Bournemouth ace would be ‘very happy’ to join
Milos Kerkez in action for Bournemouth
Romano, speaking on the Market Madness podcast, revealed that while Kerkez would be ‘very happy’ to join Liverpool this summer, he may still attract interest from other clubs looking to sign a new left-back:
“Liverpool are advancing, but careful until the end, because there are other clubs looking for left-backs in the market, and so we have to see what happens there.
“What they can guarantee is that Kerkez would be very happy to join Liverpool. The message from the player’s camp to the club has already arrived. They are discussing personal terms.
“There has already been direct contact between Liverpool and Bournemouth to discuss the price tag.
“So the conversation is ongoing, step by step. After Frimpong, Liverpool also want to add one more left-back to the squad.”
Kerkez, praised as ‘one of the best left-backs in the world’, joined Bournemouth from AZ in the summer of 2023 and has blossomed into one of the Premier League’s most promising left-backs during his two seasons on the Dorset coast.
The 21-year-old has scored two goals and provided six assists in 39 appearances this season and has three years remaining on his contract, which runs until June 2028.
Bournemouth are believed to have placed a £45m asking price on Kerkez this summer, as they look to triple the £15.5m they spent on the Hungarian two seasons ago.
Kerkez could soon become Liverpool’s second full-back signing this summer, with the club also in advanced talks for Bayer Leverkusen star Jeremie Frimpong.
