Wolves star is outperforming every Premier League player across key metric, even Mohamed Salah

After a promising run of form between March and April, Wolves’ campaign looks to be ending with a string of defeats.

In April, Wolves were Europe’s in-form team after winning six games on the bounce, including victories over Tottenham and Manchester United.

Now, after three straight Premier League defeats – including a 4-2 loss against Crystal Palace on Tuesday night – Wolves fans are fearing the worst ahead of the summer transfer window.

It was a disappointing performance by all accounts at Selhurst Park, with even Emmanuel Agbadou coming in for criticism for his wastefulness in possession.

When analysing the game, though, it wasn’t all negatives for Vitor Pereira to digest, as Jorgen Strand Larsen’s stellar form in front of goal continued.

Jorgen Strand Larsen is the Premier League’s in-form player

Strand Larsen was restored to the starting lineup at Crystal Palace after missing the Manchester City game through injury and coming off the bench against Brighton.

The 25-year-old unsurprisingly made the desired impact, assisting Agbadou for his first goal before scoring one of his own with a fine header past Dean Henderson.

In what has been an incredible first campaign in English football, Strand Larsen has surpassed Raul Jimenez’s goal tally from his debut season with 14 goals in the Premier League.

MORE WOLVES STORIES

Remarkably, the towering Norwegian has now plundered seven goals in eight matches since the start of March, and no other player in the top flight has scored more during that time, not even the division’s top scorer, Mohamed Salah.

Strand Larsen is top during that period, closely followed by Brentford’s Yoane Wissa with six and then Eberechi Eze, Jarrod Bowen, and Evanilson are all tied on five.

It just proves what a signing he’s proven to be for Wolves, as even when his side are struggling, he’s still finding the net.

Strand Larsen in fierce race with Matheus Cunha

Months ago, Wolves fans would have been worried about where the goals would come from without Matheus Cunha in the starting lineup.

The Wanderers were once reliant on the Brazilian to deliver some magic, and if he didn’t, they would variably lose.

But when Cunha was suspended for four matches, Strand Larsen hit a purple patch, relishing the responsibility of being the main man without his teammate stealing the limelight.

Now, ahead of the final home game against Brentford, the race to become Wolves’ top scorer in the Premier League this term is heating up.

In Cunha’s farewell appearance, he will want to end on a high before joining Manchester United, but there is every chance that Strand Larsen overtakes him in the standings, setting up a thrilling finale at the top of the Wolves scoring charts.
