Vincent Kompany and Kevin De Bruyne are widely considered as two stalwarts who have a case for being Manchester City’s undisputed best player of all time.
Kompany holds De Bruyne in high esteem — naming the midfield maestro in his all-time five-a-side team that featured other City legends such as Sergio Aguero, Yaya Toure and David Silva.
The Manchester City creator’s feelings about the Bayern Munich boss must be mutual, considering the legendary defender captained him at both club and international level.
As a result, Vincent Kompany would be feeling a special sense of pride after witnessing Kevin De Bruyne have the illustrious career he has had in a City shirt.
Over the years, the 33-year-old has become a role-model for players across the world, with Tijjani Reijnders idolising De Bruyne amongst many.

Vincent Kompany followed in Sane’s footsteps by sending a special message to his former teammate after Manchester City beat Bournemouth 3-1, saying: “True City legend.”
“Thank you for all the memories, thank you for all the trophies and it’s been a privilege and an honour to share the pitch with you. Enjoy everything right now, everything that comes after and remember, you’re a legend of the club forever.”
Vincent Kompany and De Bruyne’s record together for Man City and Belgium
The treble-winner will now have his sights set on the future and the good news for the Manchester City legend is that several clubs remain interested in signing him.
Chicago Fire are keen to sign De Bruyne in the summer if he decides to embark on a journey to the United States to prolong his career.
Napoli are interested in signing De Bruyne as well and if he does intend to play in Europe, the chance to join the potential Serie A champions would be an exciting next step for the Drongen-born technician.
But for the time being, the former Genk attacker has every right to sit back and reflect on the incredible memories he has made at City, which includes playing with all-time greats like Vincent Kompany.
