Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer have now predicted the winner of the 2024-2025 Europa League tournament between Manchester United and Tottenham ahead of the final.
This season’s Europa League final will be an all-English showdown between Premier League sides Manchester United and Tottenham at the San Mames Stadium.
The stakes are high for both the Red Devils and Spurs going into Wednesday’s final at the San Mames Stadium in Spain amid their respective poor seasons so far.
Both United and Tottenham need to lift the Europa League trophy if they want a path back to the Champions League for the 2025-26 season.
The loser of the 2025 Europa League final will be left without any European football for next season, with United 16th in the league table and Spurs are currently 17th.
Ruben Amorim could still sign off the lacklustre 2024-25 season at Old Trafford with his first piece of major silverware as Manchester United manager.
Ange Postecoglou, on the other hand, is under immense pressure at Tottenham and the Spurs manager’s future at the Premier League club is shrouded in mystery.
United and Tottenham have only one Premier League match remaining and both clubs’ seasons now hinge on their success in the Europa League tournament.

Alan Shearer tells Gary Lineker his Man Utd vs Tottenham prediction for the 2025 Europa League final in Bilbao
Manchester United reached the Europa League final after Ruben Amorim’s men swept aside Athletic Club in the semi-finals of this season’s competition.
The Red Devils defeated 10-man Athletic Club 3-0 at the San Mames Stadium in Bilbao in the first leg before hosting the Spanish club for the return leg.
United came from behind against Athletic Club in the second-leg semi-final tie and secured a superb 4-1 Europa League result on the night at Old Trafford.
Speaking on The Rest Is Football podcast, Alan Shearer has now predicted a thrilling tie between United and Tottenham in the final in Spain on Wednesday evening.
The 54-year-old Premier League legend has tipped a stalemate between both sides in extra time before Tottenham beat United on penalties in Bilbao.
“My prediction is going to be 2-2 or 3-3 after extra time and Spurs to win on penalties,” Shearer said.

Gary Lineker reveals to Alan Shearer his Man Utd vs Tottenham prediction for the Europa League final in Spain
Gary Lineker reacted to Shearer’s prediction by suggesting that he simply ‘could not’ back his former side to beat United in the Europa League final.
“Oh, he’s gone full on there, sounds like a World Cup final,” he responded.
“I’m going to have to go for Spurs, I couldn’t not.”
Shearer wasted no time quizzing Lineker if Tottenham would secure the Europa League trophy in normal playing time or “after 90 minutes” in the final.
Responding to Shearer, Lineker admitted: “Well, I’ve got this feeling that it’s the teams that have not won for ages this year.”
The Europa League final between Premier League rivals United and Tottenham at the San Mames Stadium in Bilbao is slated for an 8pm kick-off time in the UK.
