Rangers icon Ally McCoist has expressed his desire to see Jamie Vardy in a Rangers shirt, yet Paul Dickov claims the Premier League winner should remain in England.

Vardy is set to part ways with Leicester City as his contract at the King Power Stadium comes to an end this summer.

The striker marked his final match for the club with his 200th goal during his 500th appearance, contributing to their 2-0 victory over Ipswich Town last Sunday.

However, he will not be taking part when Ruud van Nistelrooy's team face off against Bournemouth in the Premier League's season finale this Sunday, and McCoist said he would take striker at Ibrox in a heartbeat.

"Now, we were having this discussion yesterday, me and my Rangers mates. I would take him in two minutes at Rangers. I really, really would," McCoist said on talkSPORT, as he gave his own green light to the prospect of a deal.

"Something tells me that he's got something organised. Whether it's America or another club, I think he'll have something organised."

Fellow Rangers legend Paul Gascoigne has previously said Vardy would score goals for fun at Ibrox, reports Leicestershire Live.

When asked about the possibility of Vardy joining Rangers, Gascoigne told casinobeats.com: "Possibly. Rangers are a tough team to play for.

"They expect you to be winning every game. But I'm sure he'd score some goals up there. Easy, no problem. Especially because he's still got that pace."

Meanwhile, former Leicester and Scotland forward Dickov believes Vardy should resist any interest from Rangers or Celtic and remain in the Premier League.

"Go to Scotland? I don't know. The obvious link-up is with Brendan (Rodgers) at Celtic after his time as manager at Leicester with Jamie," he told 10Bet.

"But I still think he's got a lot to offer. You still see him even now, as a 38-year-old veteran, playing off the shoulders of centre-halves in the Premier League. He's still buzzing around, closing people down, scoring goals.

"So I still think he's got a lot to offer down here, whether that be in the Premier League or top-level Championship."
