“Seriously?”–Journalist warns Liverpool player to reject transfer as club set for attack

On Tuesday, we covered claims from Spain that Liverpool have identified Lyon’s Malick Fofana as a candidate to replace Luis Díaz, who is being courted by Barcelona.

The Colombia international is on the front page of today’s Mundo Deportivo and Sport.

Mundo say the Liverpool player is the favourite target for Barca sporting director Deco.

The La Liga side are looking for a winger to avoid relying heavily on Lamine Yamal and Raphinha.

Díaz has been identified as the main target and Mundo state the Catalan club have made contact with his camp. This was done to find out the forward’s willingness to join them.

The report states he’s willing to leave the Reds for Barcelona, provided they can afford to sign him.

Sport say ‘all roads lead to Luis Díaz’, who is the ‘biggest dream’ of the sporting director. There’s consensus within the club to make an approach for the former FC Porto man, who can also operate as a No.9.

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has said they will earn €950m this season and could surpass €1bn next season. The newspaper points it out and states all finances allocated for the summer will be used to sign a winger.

El Chiringuito journalist Jose Alvarez Haya reports the Liverpool player is the ‘chosen one’ by Hansi Flick to strengthen his side’s attack. Therefore, Barcelona ‘will go all out’ to sign him.

The attacker is willing to ‘wait for Fair Play’, meaning wait until the Spanish champions sort out their finances.

Athletic’s Nico Williams is 22 years old and is younger and cheaper [€58m clause] than Díaz [valued at €70-80m]. Despite this, Barca favour the South American. Sport, online, adds Laporta, Deco and Flick all believe he can make an immediate impact at the Camp Nou.

There’s been various claims in Spain discussing Barcelona interest in the former FC Porto man.

Colombian journalist Carlos Antonio Velez has warned him against joining them, indicating leaving Liverpool for Barcelona would be a downgrade.

“Seriously? Is it worth leaving where you are to join a team that plays in the Champions League finals every 10 or more years and/or to be Raphinha’s backup? It doesn’t even seem like a decent deal…think about it, Lucho!!!” he said.
