Ambitious attempt for Crystal Palace’s Jean-Philippe Mateta on the way – Eagles to be contacted soon

There’s a claim in the Turkish media that Fenerbahce are showing interest in Crystal Palace forward Jean-Philippe Mateta.

It’s been widely reported Fener manager Jose Mourinho wants to sign a top-class centre forward this summer and the Frenchman is the latest to be linked with the Yellow Caneries.

Today’s edition of Sabah newspaper reports on the latest developments regarding Fenerbahce’s pursuit for a No.9, as they look to replace the outgoing Edin Dzeko.

Youssef En-Nesyri could be sold this summer, with Fulham said to be interested in the Morocco international. Cenk Tosun also looks surplus to requirements under Mourinho.

Subsequently, it’s claimed the Istanbul side will soon make contact with Crystal Palace with regards to their player’s availability, but given the importance he has to the Premier League side it’s ambitious from Fener to think they have a chance.

Earlier today there also reports the Super Lig side are considering signing Manchester United’s Rasmus Højlund, who could be offloaded by the Red Devils during the next window.

Mateta has made 44 appearances this season, scoring 17 goals. He’s contracted to Crystal Palace until June 2026.
