Liverpool's Andy Robertson has sent a parting message to outgoing teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold, with a clear message he hopes the soon-to-be Real Madrid defender will receive the appreciation he deserves.

Alexander-Arnold publicly confirmed earlier this month that he will not be extending his stay at Anfield. Since then, the 26-year-old has received a mixed reception from supporters, including widespread boos during the 2-2 draw with Arsenal in the week following the announcement.

His teammates have rallied around him, including fellow full-back Robertson. The Scotland international shared a heartfelt message to Alexander-Arnold on social media ahead of Sunday’s final Premier League match, in which the Reds will finally lift the trophy they secured last month.

"My brother, where to even start! It has been an absolute privilege watching you grow from a boy to a man over these last 8 years," he wrote. "You have won it all and created amazing memories along the way.

"I want to thank you for constantly pushing me to new limits and setting the bar so high that I had no choice but to follow. You are going to be a huge miss around the training ground and an even bigger miss on the pitch.

"I hope all the hard work you have put into this club, the moments you have given us and the massive contribution you have made are recognised as they should be..... Wingmen one last time."
