Marcus Rashford could receive a winners’ medal if Manchester United beat Tottenham in the Europa League final.
Rashford has not played for the Red Devils since mid-December and was loaned out to Aston Villa at the start of February.
But, while his loan at Villa Park will end without any silverware, with Unai Emery’s side knocked out of the Champions League in the quarter-finals and FA Cup in the semi-finals, Rashford could still end the campaign with a winners’ medal if United beat Spurs in Bilbao on Wednesday night.
This is because United will receive 50 gold medals if they are victorious in Spain.
In fact, they will receive 50 silver medals if they lose to Tottenham, so Rashford could also receive a runners-up medal.
United’s travelling playing squad will almost certainly all receive medals as well as boss Ruben Amorim and his coaching staff, but the rest of them can be awarded to players at United’s discretion.
Rashford played six times for United in the Europa League this season before leaving Old Trafford, scoring in a 3-3 draw in Porto last October.
His last match under Amorim was against Viktoria Plzen in the Europa League in December.
It looks likely that will be his last match for the club, with Rashford expected to leave United permanently this summer - so being awarded a medal would be a classy final gesture from the club.
