From Germany: Bayern Munich now‘fear’Liverpool, Wirtz impressed by Reds, now it’s down to Kompany

Last week, Bild reported Liverpool had held talks with Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz, and his parents Karin Groß and Hans Wirtz, during their trip to England.

The Wirtz delegation were in the UK to hold talks with Manchester City, who are no longer in the race. They flew to Blackpool before travelling to Manchester and this is where the Reds held a meeting.

Bayern Munich have been chasing the 22-year-old for a long time, and Kicker provides the latest on them and Liverpool.

They state the Bundesliga winners ‘fear’ losing the attacking midfielder to Arne Slot’s side.

Liverpool have made a huge impression on Wirtz and would like to make him the ‘centre of a new team’. Bayern also have a similar plan, and the two clubs are pushing to sign him in the summer window.

Kicker report Vincent Kompany spoke to the player at length to explain his style and how he would fit into it. It’s unclear whether the Bayern manager was able to convince the Germany international.

It could be down to the talks that Kompany held with Wirtz to decide whether he will pick the Bavarian club or favour Liverpool.

The German giants assume Wirtz will decide between then and Liverpool and could make the final decision within 10 days. Bayer Leverkusen should be able to collect over €100m from his sale in the upcoming window.
