Exclusive: What Nottingham Forest sources are now saying about Nuno Espirito Santo's future

Nottingham Forest News understands that the football club are keen for Nuno Espirito Santo to sign a new contract on Trentside.

The Reds’ head coach has worked wonders this season, with Forest heading into the final day of the season against Chelsea, knowing that a win might secure Champions League football for next season.

Espirito Santo has been linked with Roma in the coming days, with reports suggesting that the Forest incumbent could be on his way out at the end of the season.

The 51-year-old joined Forest in December 2023 and led the club to Premier League safety before taking things to a different level during the current campaign.

Nottingham Forest want Nuno Espirito Santo to sign new contract

We’ve been speaking to Graeme Bailey and he believes that Forest are very satisfied with Espirito Santo and would love to see him sign a new contract.

Despite the speculation, Bailey believes that it’s the nature of the beast that Espirito Santo is attracting admiring glances, given how well he’s done at Forest.

He told Nottingham Forest News: “There have been brief discussions offering Nuno a new contract and when I spoke to Forest yesterday, it was played down that he might be leaving.

“It’s an issue that he’s only got a year left and it’s also an issue that other clubs are aware of the fact that his contract is coming to an end in a year.

“Everyone at the club is anxious for this not to become an issue ahead of such a big game at the weekend.

“I believe he will probably sign a new deal at Forest but nothing is guaranteed in football but for me, there’s a good chance he signs something new and stays at the club.”

Nuno Espirito Santo record at Nottingham Forest

It’s hard to imagine that after such a meteoric rise up the Premier League table that the club would simply be happy to wave goodbye to the man who has made it all possible on the pitch.

Espirito Santo was far from most supporters’ first choice when he replaced Steve Cooper but he’s proved to be the model professional and a good person during his time at the club.

The head coach deserves a crack at taking Forest into Europe next season and the hope will be that things can be ironed out pretty quickly before the next campaign.

Espirito Santo is the man to take Forest forward and hopefully, all of this talk is put to bed with a big win against Chelsea at the weekend.
