Report: South American club confirmed to be expecting a bid from Wolves for 31-goal Brazil…

Wolves are eager to strike gold in the South American market once again in the summer window.

Last summer, Wolves signed Andre from Fluminense in a tremendous deadline day move.

Andre followed Brazilian national teammate Joao Gomes to Molineux, as Gomes was purchased for just £15m during the January window of 2023.

Wolves have seen how successful the two signings have become and are eager to explore in Brazil once again, with several targets already sounded out.

Corinthians expect £30m bid from Wolves for Yuri Alberto

Vitor Pereira worked in Brazil in the years prior to his move to Wolves, representing both Flamengo and Corinthians.

The boss is eager to reconnect with some of his former players, it seems, as Wolves have been linked to Flamengo’s Evertton Araujo, a midfielder once coached by Pereira.

Araujo isn’t the only superstar that Pereira is eyeing from Brazil, as Wolves made a move for Yuri Alberto in January.

The Old Gold were unsuccessful in their attempt to bring the Corinthians striker to Molineux in the winter, but that hasn’t ended their pursuit.

MORE WOLVES STORIES

Former footballer and Os Donos da Bola commentator, Souza, has revealed Wolves’ plan to revisit Alberto with an improved transfer offer.

As relayed by Band, at the request of Pereira, Wolves are expected to table an offer in the region of £30m for Alberto, who the boss sees as a replacement for Matheus Cunha.

It’s understood in Brazil that the Wolves manager has already ‘indicated’ that his former striker at Corinthians is his favoured successor to Cunha.

Despite Pereira’s wishes, there might be a stumbling block as Corinthians value Alberto at £50m due to Zenit St Petersburg still having 50% financial rights over the forward.

Alberto is a worthy Matheus Cunha replacement

During his time at Corinthians, Pereira described Alberto as an ‘animal’ in front of goal, which is a fair assessment when looking at his numbers.

Last season, Alberto scored 31 goals in all competitions for Corinthians, telling all that needs to be known about his potency.

What’s interesting is that Pereira sees the Brazilian as the key to replenishing the goals that will leave Molineux alongside Cunha, who is set to join Manchester United.

Brazilian media once argued that Alberto was better suited to the national team than Cunha, which is something else to consider amid transfer links.

It will be fascinating to see how Wolves allow Pereira to push for Alberto, who, despite being a pricey target, has history with the manager and is capable of scoring freely.
