Dani Carvajal isn't just an excellent individual presence, but he's also a great leader. This is why he brings the best out of anyone around him, for both Real Madrid and the Spain national team. It will be the exact same, even with a world-class player competing for his spot.
If Trent brings the best out of Carvajal and Carvajal brings the best out of Trent, then it benefits everybody involved. Still, the part about healthy competition is the last thing Real Madrid fans will pay attention to.
Carvajal has all but confirmed Trent to Real Madrid. Of course, players sometimes know just as much as fans, but for Carvajal to take such a confirmed stance tells Real Madrid fans everything they need to know.
