“John Tonje Put Himself In The Draft Discussion”: Wisconsin Badgers John Tonje Projected To Be…

Wisconsin Badgers guard John Tonje was one of the best players in the BIG10 Conference during the 2024-2025 college basketball season. Tonje however stood out the most anytime the Badgers were playing on the basketball court.

He is currently getting ready for the 2025 NBA Draft. Tonje was not projected to be selected in the two rounds of the 2025 NBA Draft, but there is a chance that the former Wisconsin guard could be selected in the 2025 NBA Draft. Where does the latest NBA Mock Draft have Tonje going?

Jonathan Wasserman of Bleacher Report created his latest 2025 NBA Mock Draft. He has the Badgers guard being selected 51st overall in the 2025 NBA Draft by the Los Angeles Clippers (via Minnesota Timberwolves). Wasserman said about the Clippers potentially selecting Tonje with this pick,

“After four years at Colorado State and one with Missouri, John Tonje put himself in the draft discussion by averaging 19.6 points for Wisconsin. He made 85 threes and 231 free throws (90.9% FT), as Tonje’s shotmaking and physical driving ability have become worth looking into for teams in the late second round.”

Tonje is 24 years old, and he is 6’5″ and weighs 218 lbs. His NBA comparison according to Wasserman is Chris Durate. During the 2024-2025 college basketball season with Wisconsin, he averaged 19.6 PPG, 5.3 RPG, 1.8 APG, 0.2 BPG, and 0.7 SPG. Tonje also shot 46.5% from the field.

If he were to get drafted in the second-round of the NBA Draft, there is a chance that Tonje may wind up playing in the G-League to start his career instead of playing at the NBA level. However, it is good for the former Wisconsin guard that he could potentially work his way from being undrafted to being drafted near the end of the second round in the 2025 NBA Draft.
