With under a minute left in the first period, Edwards rolled his right ankle while driving through the lane against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

He appeared to land awkwardly, immediately reaching for his ankle in pain after drawing a foul on the play.

Although he stayed in to take his free throws—making one of two—Edwards headed to the locker room once the quarter ended. He missed the beginning of the second quarter but later returned and finished the game.

Despite playing a team-high 36 minutes and 34 seconds, Edwards never quite found his rhythm offensively.

He ended the night with 18 points on 5-of-13 shooting, including 3-of-8 from three-point range, as the Timberwolves fell 114-88 in Game 1 on Tuesday.

Oklahoma City's defense zeroed in on Edwards, making it difficult for him to create space or get into a flow.

Still, when asked after the game whether the ankle tweak affected his shot, Edwards quickly dismissed the idea.

Game 2 of the series is set for Thursday night.
