According to The Telegraph, De Bruyne has now decided that he won’t play for another Premier League club.
There had been some talk about De Bruyne playing for a Premier League side, with the likes of Aston Villa and Liverpool having been linked.
De Bruyne has admitted he feels he still has more to give, and certainly he would improve many teams in the English top-flight.
But De Bruyne will join a club abroad from next season.
That is very good news for the many fans who did not want to see De Bruyne playing against City.
Where De Bruyne could now go after leaving Man City
While De Bruyne undoubtedly still has the quality to play in the Premier League, he would perhaps benefit from playing a league that is not as intense as the English top-flight.
In recent years, he has struggled a lot with injuries, and if he wants to continue playing into his late thirties, then it is perhaps wise to change leagues now.

Appearances – 421
Goals – 108
Assists – 177
Trophies won – 16
Napoli have shown interest in De Bruyne, and Serie A is notorious for being a lot slower-paced than the Premier League. So that’s something we could see happen, although it remains to be seen if they could afford his wages.
De Bruyne has also been linked with Chicago Fire, with other MLS clubs keen.
But De Bruyne seemingly still has fire in his belly, and him joining a team that plays in a higher standard of league feels more likely.
