Liverpool have now“offered”new four-year deal to“talented”player–Fabrizio Romano

Liverpool are thought to have “offered” youngster Wellity Lucky a new long-term deal at the club, according to a fresh claim from Fabrizio Romano.

It has been a memorable season on the contract front at Anfield, both for good and bad, with the futures of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah dominating the headlines.

While Alexander-Arnold has opted against staying at his boyhood club, instead almost certainly heading off to Real Madrid, both Van Dijk and Salah have committed their futures until the summer of 2026.

There are other players whose futures are now also up in the air, from Ibrahima Konate to Luis Diaz, and it remains to be seen if Liverpool will hand them contract extensions.

Writing to X on Wednesday afternoon, however, Romano reported that the Reds have offered 19-year-old defender Lucky a four-year deal at the club:

“Understand Liverpool have offered new 4 year deal to 19 year old talented centre back Wellity Lucky. Current contract ends this summer and Liverpool are trying to keep him while clubs in Spain and Germany are also in negotiations trying to sign him.”

A bright talent for the future at Liverpool

Lucky may not be too well-known to some Liverpool fans, considering he is yet to appear for the first team, but he has made 46 appearances at youth team level, shining at centre-back.

The Spanish teenager has been praised by Reds Under-21s manager Barry Lewtas, who lauded both him and centre-back partner Amara Nallo earlier this season, saying:

“A clean sheet is massive for them. There’s been a few games this season where there has been a few mistakes and things like that but they were rock solid to be fair to them. They blocked, they tackled, they headed everything away and I thought at times they were the moments we were quite good in possession as well and we just couldn’t move up the pitch enough as a team.”

Lucky’s aim should be to follow in the footsteps of Jarell Quansah at Liverpool, with the Englishman showing that it is possible to make the jump up to senior level if you impress at youth level.

It will be interesting to see how the former England Under-16 and Under-15 international develops as the years pass, as he looks to enjoy an excellent career at the top level.
