76ers rumors: Paul George trade dismissed by insider

Despite trade rumors, the 76ers have no intention of breaking up the Joel Embiid–Paul George duo unless George requests a move, per Jake Fischer.

The Philadelphia 76ers have no plans to break up their star duo of Joel Embiid and Paul George, according to NBA insider Jake Fischer.

“Don't expect that duo, furthermore, to be broken up," Fischer reported on Substack. "Sources say that recent reports suggesting that the Sixers will be looking to explore George's trade market in conjunction with the draft are a misread."

Fischer added that since Philadelphia pursued George in free agency last summer, it's been clear around the league that the team wouldn't consider trading him early in his tenure—unless George himself asked to be moved.

Both players dealt with injuries this season. George appeared in just 41 games, battling a hyperextended knee, a finger tendon injury, and groin issues. He averaged 16.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 4.3 assists.

Embiid had an even more limited campaign. A left knee injury sidelined him after only 19 games, during which he posted averages of 23.8 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 4.5 assists.

With both stars missing significant time, the Sixers finished outside the top 10 in the Eastern Conference and missed the postseason.
