THE Cherries fell to a 3-1 defeat to Manchester City last night, in what ended up being a comfortable victory for their hosts.

Daniel Jebbison’s stoppage time goal was nothing more than a consolation, as City took a 2-0 lead at halftime thanks to an Omar Marmoush stunner and a Bernardo Silva strike, before Nico made it 30 in the 90th minute.

The Daily Echo rates the Cherries players in defeat.

Kepa Arrizabalaga: 6

The Spaniard was powerless to stop Marmoush’s strike, but he was beaten twice at his near post, although both were good finishes. Made a couple of good saves.

Milos Kerkez: 6

Kerkez was industrious up and down the left and put in some dangerous crosses – although more often than not they didn’t pick out a teammate.

Dean Huijsen: 6

A solid showing from the Madrid-bound Huijsen – he and Zabarnyi kept Haaland quiet for much of the game.

Illia Zabarnyi: 6

As above, a solid performance from the Ukrainian in defeat.

Araujo came into the side for Adam Smith, having done the same at Arsenal, and the Mexican was decent, although is still adjusting to the speed of the Premier League, caught out on a few occasions.

Lewis Cook: 4

It was a game that City controlled in midfield, a tough one for Cook and his midfield partner Adams. But Cook’s red card took away the man advantage that the Cherries had had for six minutes, and just as they looked to build some momentum.

As above, a tough game for the midfield duo, the pair unable to exert too much control on the game.

Marcus Tavernier: 6

The Cherries were not at their free-flowing best going forward and there was a lot of hard work for little reward from Tavernier and his fellow forwards.

Justin Kluivert: 5

A largely ineffective first half for Kluivert, as he was replaced at the break. Missed a couple of chances shortly before the interval.

Antoine Semenyo: 6

As with Tavernier and Kluivert, Semenyo was unable to make a real impact on the game going forward.

Evanilson: 7

The Brazilian was as energetic as ever in attack – and he did what he has done all season in winning the red card, reading the game brilliantly to intercept and draw the foul from Mateo Kovacic.

Substitutes:

David Brooks: 6

Adam Smith: 6

Julio Soler: 6

Daniel Jebbison: 7

A well-taken goal from the Canadian, his first in the league for the Cherries.
