Gary Neville’s prediction for Everton’s clash with Newcastle United led to an instant remark from Ian Wright.

Having once looked as though they would be involved in a relegation scrap, Everton’s turnaround under David Moyes means that their final game of the season means very little in the grand scheme of things.

The Toffees will want to end the season with a win and take as much momentum into the new campaign as possible when they travel to face Newcastle United.

With that in mind, Neville has shared his prediction for this weekend’s encounter, and it’s fair to say that Wright was having none of it.

Everton could scupper Newcastle’s Champions League plans

While Everton may have nothing left to play for, there is still a lot at stake for several Premier League sides ahead of the final game of the season.

Newcastle United are among four clubs chasing Champions League qualification for the next season, though anything less than a win at the weekend could see them miss out.

Everton certainly won’t be the favourites, and via The Overlap, Neville predicted a 3-0 win for the Magpies, and Wright disagreed.

“No way,” said Wright. “There’s no way. That’s never going to happen.”

David Moyes‘ side will be keen to prove Neville wrong and secure what would be a massive win to end their Premier League campaign.

Neville predicted the Newcastle United v Everton result, and Wright totally disagreed.

Everton will already have plenty of focus elsewhere

Given the fact that there is nothing at stake for Everton in this game, it’s hard to imagine their full focus being on the encounter in the North East.

Work will already be underway to get them prepared for next season, with a lot of planning to be done ahead of the summer window as the Toffees prepare for a new era at Bramley-Moore.

Recruitment is going to be crucial for Everton, and it is imperative that any decisions made in the coming months are the right ones to ensure that they can start heading back in the right direction.
