They should…’ – Andy Robertson wants Liverpool fans to recognise one thing ahead of Alexander-Arnold farewell

Trent Alexander-Arnold’s Liverpool exit has felt like a long time coming, but nobody expected things to end the way that they have.

Liverpool fans feel betrayed by Alexander-Arnold as he looks set to join Real Madrid upon the expiry of his contract.

However, due to how quiet the defender was about his contract all season, the fanbase felt hurt that the Englishman was doing things such as tapping the badge and celebrating with them if he intended to leave.

As a result of this, a hostile reception has welcomed the right-back each time he’s been introduced by Arne Slot, resulting in things ending quite poorly between Liverpool’s fans and Alexander-Arnold.

Although fans are hurt by the defender’s decision, it seems that Andy Robertson wishes Alexander-Arnold nothing but the best after a post he put out on his Instagram account before the right-back’s final game.

Andy Robertson encourages Liverpool fans to recognise Trent Alexander-Arnold’s achievements at Anfield

Robertson and Alexander-Arnold have been a dynamic duo for the Anfield outfit over the past couple of seasons with the pair often being dubbed the best full-backs in the top flight.

While their output may have slowed down throughout the 2024-25 campaign, they still managed to put in some solid shifts.

Taking to his personal Instagram account, Robertson shared a heartfelt message for his departing teammate.

Robertson wrote: ‘My brother, where to even start! It has been an absolute privilege watching you grow from a boy to a man over the last 8 years. You have won it all and created amazing memories along the way.’

Due to these achievements, Robertson added a message for Liverpool fans, writing: ‘I hope all the hard work you have put into this club, the moments you have given us and the massive contribution you have made are recognised as they should be…’

The Scotland international then finished his message with a heartfelt sentence, stating: ‘Wingmen one last time.’

Liverpool players past and present respond to Andy Robertson’s Instagram post

While Liverpool fans are not best pleased with Alexander-Arnold at the moment, it’s hard to deny that he’s had a stellar career representing the Anfield faithful.

Liverpool’s fanbase is an extremely passionate bunch who want their disdain to be heard.

However, judging by the comments from some former Liverpool players as well as the defender himself, they each want Alexander-Arnold to be celebrated on Sunday, rather than booed.

Jay Spearing responded to the post with two clapping emojis and a red heart.

Former Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson also commented something similar, with the Englishman adding a red heart under Robertson’s post.

Lastly, Alexander-Arnold himself replied and wrote: ‘My brother, memories to last a lifetime, thank you for everything. One last dance.’

Only time will tell whether the defender will get the minutes he desires from Arne Slot against Crystal Palace on 25 May, but if he does, there’s no knowing how fans will react.
