The 2024-25 season didn’t work out as expected for Paul George and his Philadelphia 76ers.
They had their sights set on going far in the playoffs, and instead, they didn’t even reach the postseason.
Speaking on his “Podcast P” show, George was very honest about an injury that held him back from reaching his true potential.
“The most frustrating thing about the last season was obviously I came in, I was healthy, I didn’t have no hiccups,” George said. “I spent the whole offseason working on my body, getting healthy, and then I get to Philly. Obviously, the hyperextension, […] then I started to develop a quad tendon injury. Then I had an injury that I didn’t even know, and this was the original of why I was feeling like something’s off. I can’t move. I’m used to being able to explode. I’m used to cutting, come to find out I had a torn adductor.”
It is clear that George actually had several physical problems that held him back in 2024-25, and hopefully they are gone when next season tips off in the fall.
For 2024-25, he averaged 16.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 4.3 assists on 43.0 percent from the field and 35.8 percent from the three-point line.
Unfortunately, George only played in 41 games during his first season for the 76ers.
This wasn’t the only problem for Philadelphia, of course, because they had a nightmarish season they’d like to soon forget.
They hardly got any of Joel Embiid, while their rookie star, Jared McCain, also got hurt, and injuries ran up and down the roster.
By the middle of the season, it had become clear that things weren’t getting much better, and the team didn’t even stand a chance of reaching the Play-In Tournament.
George has had more injuries over the last few years, but he now has the whole summer to rest, recover, and rehabilitate.
76ers fans are hoping to see a much healthier version of the 35-year-old star in a few months because this season was nothing but a disappointment.
