Report: Wolves now readying bid to sign 'one of the best-performing forwards in world football'

Wolverhampton Wanderers may have already lined up their Matheus Cunha replacement in Corinthians star Yuri Alberto, according to reports from Brazil - with the talented striker potentially coming under a sizeable bid from the West Midlands outfit, after boss Vitor Pereira personally requested that they sign him.

Cunha's outstanding season has seen him on the shortlist of various Premier League clubs, but it appears that Manchester United will win the race to secure his signature, and that has forced Wolves into action. With that in mind, it appears that Alberto is his potential replacement, and proactive steps will be taken.

Earlier in the campaign, Alberto's agent stated that Wolves had made a previous offer for his talents, and that the forward will have a chat with Corinthians if there is a good opportunity for him to leave.

The top-flight club are set to lose Cunha in the coming months, with their key star looking likely to join United in a £62.5million move, and that will see Alberto come in to replace him if a deal can be reached with the Brazilian giants, which would be a good deal for Wolves after Alberto was called 'one of the best-performing forwards in world football' by South American football-loving page The Copa Club.

Pereira has reportedly requested that club chiefs sign the Brazil international in the summer if Cunha leaves, and according to journalist Willamis de Souza Silva, Corinthians are set to receive a €35million (£30million) offer from Wolves, with both the player and the selling club having to make a decision if that Premier League bid lands in their inbox.

Alberto is primarily a striker, and may not be able to do the creative work of Cunha, but his record of 50 league goals in just 127 games for Corinthians is enough to tempt Pereira to move for his services, having made his Brazil debut in 2023.

Alberto was previously linked with Southampton last summer, whilst West Ham were thought to be weighing up a bid in January - but any deal didn't materialise, and Wolves could offer him the chance to finally play Premier League football.
