It is shaping up to be a bit of a sorry end to the season for Wolves, but the most important thing is that the club will not be relegated.
Wolves slipped to a third straight defeat in the Premier League against Crystal Palace on Tuesday night, losing 4-2 at Selhurst Park.
But thankfully, Wolves secured their safety weeks ago.
Vitor Pereira has done a great job, and oversaw a winning run that stretched to six games, which very few would have seen coming earlier in the season.
Despite the current run of three losses in a row, there is a level of optimism at Molineux now that hasn’t been seen for quite some time.
Expectations for the new season are high – and Andy Thompson feels Wolves are capable of doing something significant.

Wolves have a fantastic squad on paper, and really, the club should never have been in the position they were earlier in the season.
Gary O’Neil really struggled and Fosun probably should have sacked him weeks before they did.
MORE WOLVES STORIES
They made the decision in the end, and Pereira has been a breath of fresh air.
It’s exciting to think about what Wolves could do next term with Pereira in charge from the start, but for Andy Thompson, Wanderers are well capable of winning a trophy.
He said on Matchday Live Extra after the defeat to Crystal Palace: “It’ll be a great day celebrating (at Molineux on Sunday) because we’re still in the Premier League.
“And I think we deserve to be in this Premier League. I think we bring a lot to this Premier League with the way we play. And the way this team goes about things.
“We’ve got a lot of exceptional players. I know there’s rumours about players going, but we have got a team – and we said this last year, and I’m going to say it again – of exceptional players at this club.
“And I think there’s no reason why we can’t do what Crystal Palace have done, what Newcastle have done, and other teams, and pushing up there for European places.
“There’s no reason why the quality of players that we’ve got, we can’t be up there as well. I think we’ve got the players to do it.”
It would be incredible to see Wolves win a major trophy, something the club have not done since winning the EFL Cup all the way back in 1980 against Nottingham Forest.
Fosun can help Wolves to win a trophy… if they want
Whether Wolves can win a trophy next season or push for European football is going to depend on how this summer goes.
It will be one of the most important summer windows for quite some time at Molineux.
Wolves have a manager now who looks like he could bring the good times back to the club after spending the last few years worrying about possible relegation.
Palace and Newcastle winning trophies in 2025 should encourage Fosun to back Pereira to the hilt this summer. We’ve also seen teams like Nottingham Forest, Brighton, Fulham and Brentford make pushes for Europe.
Wolves could indeed lose a few key players this summer. But if Fosun can deviate away from their self-sustaining policy, there might be an outside chance.
Pereira has already indirectly called on Fosun to deliver this summer, so hopefully the Wolves owners do just that.
