Liverpool will be paying close attention to Premier League striker's £60m valuation - report

Liverpool are set to sign a new centre-forward to replace Darwin Nunez this summer and Brighton’s star forward Joao Pedro is an option for the Reds.

Nunez has several options this summer. He can either go to the Saudi Pro League where he will undoubteldy earn way more than his already impressive £140,000/week wage.

Or, Nunez can pick between Atletico Madrid and Napoli, who are is current strongest suitors. It remains to be seen how much Liverpool will stand to earn from his sale but the Reds will no doubt use the cash to fund a move for a new striker.

The dream option is obviously Alexander Isak but the Newcastle United forward will cost far too much at £150m or thereabouts.

He would be a blockbuster signing but there are yet to be any concrete reports suggesting Liverpool are planning a bid to Newcastle or a contract offer to the Swede.

Then there’s the likes of Victor Osimhen, Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko. All three would be wonderful signings in their own right.

Joao Pedro has been linked with Liverpool ever since joining Brighton in 2023 and now, after scoring 10 goals and assisting seven, he is being linked with a move to Anfield among other Premier League big wigs.

Joao Pedro could be available for £60m but no concrete links to Liverpool yet

According to a report from GiveMeSport, “Joao Pedro’s desire is to look for a new opportunity” but the Brazilian “won’t break his relationship with Brighton.”

That said, his representatives have already started to make contact with big Premier League outfits “to explore opportunities in order to start discussions with Brighton at the right moment.”

Liverpool are not mentioned as an interested club but rather listed as one of the Premier League clubs that are on the lookout for a new No.9 along with the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Newcastle.

GMS reports “potential proposals around a fee of £60m for Joao Pedro could prove attractive in order to advance and try to negotiate with the Seagulls, but this will be important to check in the upcoming weeks when clubs will start concrete contacts.”

Liverpool may well be one of the clubs looking to sign Pedro but as of right now, their focus is on trying to bring Bayer Leverkusen talisman Florian Wiirtz to Anfield for around £126million.
