After that, the goal will be to stay there. That will mean that Eddie Howe’s side need to consistently finish in the Premier League’s top four or top five.
That is going to be extremely challenging, but it is the bar that PIF have set. PIF want Newcastle United to become an elite club, and that means regularly rubbing shoulders with Europe’s best teams in the Champions League.
To do that, the Magpies need players who are good enough to compete in Europe’s elite competition. In Antonio Cordero, the club believe they are signing someone who has the potential to be exactly that.

That is according to Spanish outlet Marca, who report that Newcastle United believe Cordero has the potential to become a ‘Champions League player’.
They have seen something special in Cordero, who Marca claim will sign a five-year deal at St James’ Park.
What Newcastle United plan to do with Antonio Cordero
If Newcastle are right about Cordero then this will prove to be a sensational deal.
That will all depend on his development, as the Magpies aim to ensure that the winger achieves his potential in a black and white shirt.
Firstly, Newcastle plan to loan Cordero out.
He will not immediately be part of Eddie Howe’s first-team. Instead, he will gain more senior experience away from Tyneside.
It has been reported that Cordero could join Ajax on loan. That could be a very positive move for his development.
