The only thing worse than half-and-half scarves? Spurs and Man United's form this year. (Getty Images)
There is no hiding from the fact that Spurs and Manchester United have both been terrible this year.
Some of the numbers are absolutely appalling.
* Tottenham have lost 25 games in all competitions this season, the most in a single campaign in their history.
* Manchester United have suffered 18 league defeats, the most they have lost since 20 in 1973/74. The Red Devils were relegated from the top flight that year.
* Manchester United have not won in their last eight games in the Premier League (D2 L6), the first time since an 11-game stretch without a win between December 1989 and February 1990.
* Spurs have won just one of their last 11 Premier League games (D2 L8) since beating bottom side Southampton 3-1 in April.
* Spurs have also conceded in each of their last 12 league games, their longest run without a clean sheet since 17 between August and December 2010.
* Spurs and Manchester United sit 16th and 17th in the Premier League, just above the relegation zone. There has never been a final in any of UEFA’s club competitions where both have been so low in their domestic leagues and never been one when a club is just above the relegation zone.
It's horrible.
And yet, the winner of this game will play in next year's Champions League.

Hello and welcome to the ABC Sport coverage of a massive morning for Australian football.
No, we're not talking about the crucial match in rural Gloucestershire this evening (if you know, you know), we're talking Europa League, where Spurs and Manchester United will hope to rescue their abject domestic seasons with a golden ticket to the Champions League.
My name is **Simon Smale** and I am here to take you through all the action as it happens over in Bilbao at the San Mamés Stadium.
