NBA players can choose to receive their annual salary over either 6 or 12 months, with most opting for 12 months to get paid every two weeks year-round.

Chicago Bulls guard Josh Giddey is approaching a major free agency decision, and ahead of it, he took a moment to explain how NBA salaries work.

"You can choose to be paid your yearly salary in 6 months or 12 months," Giddey shared on Snapchat.

"Most guys choose 12 months so they can get paid year-round," the Aussie added. "Get paid every 2 weeks."

Giddey, 22, himself is in line for a massive payday, potentially signing a new contract worth around $150 million. Over his first four NBA seasons, Giddey has earned approximately $27 million, with his rookie deal set to expire after the 2024–25 season.

This past regular season, he averaged 14.6 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 7.2 assists across 70 games.
