Manchester United are stepping up their summer rebuild plans, as The Red Devils prioritise a full remodel of their attack after a lacklustre season.

Despite their undefeated title in the Europa League, United sit in 16th place in the Premier League with their highest potential finishing spot being 14th place.

Ruben Amorim is hoping that he can inspire his men to fight back next season to achieve a much better finish and qualify for future European tournaments without having to rely on automatic entry through other trophies.

Last season, United booked their slot in the Europa League by winning the FA Cup whilst sitting in 8th place in the league. This season, United could qualify for the Champions League by winning the Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur despite being in the bottom half of the table.

In a bid to avoid these situations next year, Amorim’s side is on the verge of signing Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers but are still keeping an eye on Viktor Gyokeres.

Fabrizio Romano has reported that United are still interested and tonight’s final will be a huge turning point either way for the club’s pursuit of the Sweden international.

A win over Tottenham would not only get United into the Champions League, but with it comes £100 million in extra revenue, meaning they could afford a move for Gyokeres.

However, losing to Ange Postecoglou’s men would mean Gyokeres and his £62.5 million release clause would be out of their reach, turning to Liam Delap of Ipswich instead.

As such, Romano has confirmed that Gyokeres is still their priority to lead their attacking line, as he has been since Amorim took charge, however the reality of the club’s finances might lead them to move in a different direction.
