News on Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Brother Turns Heads Amid Trade Rumors

The 2025 NBA offseason has yet to begin, but there are already plenty of rumors and narratives making the waves that will be crucial to follow this summer. This includes the future of Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo, who could be on the move this offseason.

Antetokounmpo and the Bucks suffered a first-round loss third year in a row after their five-game loss to the Indiana Pacers. After winning it all in 2021, the Bucks have officially not made it past the second round of the playoffs for four consecutive seasons.

Furthermore, following Damian Lillard's Achilles injury, there is now legitimate uncertainty regarding Antetokounmpo's future in Milwaukee. However, following the latest news, there could be a bit more clarity regarding what is next for the Greek native.

Antetokounmpo had been teammates with his brother, Thanasis, from 2019-2024. The younger Antetokounmpo suffered an Achilles injury and has not played in over a year. However, he has recently been cleared to return and is pursuing a return to the league (h/t Christopher Kuhagen of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel).

According to Bovada Sportsbook, the Bucks (-150) are the favorites to sign Antetokounmpo. However, there are a few other notable teams not too far behind, including the Brooklyn Nets (+800), who have the fourth-highest odds of signing him.

The Nets have been linked to the two-time NBA MVP and are a potential suitor for him if Milwaukee explores trade options for him (h/t Brian Lewis of the New York Post). With Brooklyn having high odds of signing his brother, it seems that this is an even bigger possibility than many may have thought, and that is the sentiment that has been shared on social media.

"Whoever gets Thanasis gets Giannis," one fan wrote on X.

"Thanasis goes wherever Giannis goes," wrote another fan. "It’s a package deal. So keep that 14/15th roster spot open."

"Maybe they'll also get Giannis," a third fan wrote.

"He’ll go where Giannis goes," a fourth fan wrote on X.

Once free agency officially begins, this will be a crucial story to follow as it could determine where the Bucks will trade their top star if they decide to do so.
