Manchester United’s campaign finished on a sour note as a resilient Spurs side withstood their attacking effort to eke out a 1-0 win.
A scrappy game did look like it was 16th vs 17th in the Premier League as both sides huffed and puffed to no avail in the first half.
Spurs’ opener summed up the game state, a scrappy goal out of a hopeful cross but one which left United staring down the barrel.
Despite Spurs ceding possession and territory to United in the second half, they couldn’t break the door down, losing 1-0 in a whimper, forgettable final.

Here’s how the players rated –
Man Utd player ratings vs Spurs
Andre Onana – 4
Struggles in any sort of buildup and got a weak hand for Spurs’ opener. Needs replacing because his confidence is shot, which is transmitted to the defence.
Leny Yoro – 6
Too adventurous at times for his own good but rather that than timid play.
Harry Maguire – 7
Mostly solid in both boxes after one fluffed clearance. Best of the defensive bunch.
Luke Shaw – 4
Helped along Spurs’ opener as he was clueless about where the ball was. Looked a step behind the match pace.
More United News
Noussair Mazraoui – 6
Underlapped to play as the No. 10 in possession but rarely threatened in small spaces. Fine defensively.
Patrick Dorgu – 4
Struggled in both phases as he looked overawed by the occasion. Too eager in defence and too panicky in the attack.
Casemiro – 7
Played some nice passes and broke up the play with purpose. He’s someone used to the biggest stage and looked like it.
Bruno Fernandes – 4
Far off from his usual standards he was frozen out of the game. Below-par set-piece delivery and passing exacerbated his struggles. Stumbled on the biggest occasion.
Amad – 7
Looked to make things happen every time he had the ball, causing panic in Spurs’ box. His teammates needed to be as enterprising as he was.
Mason Mount – 5
Came back to earth from his heroics against Athletic as he remained on the fringes of a stuttering attacking display.
Rasmus Hojlund – 6
Hasn’t set the standard very high but looked better holding up the ball and linking the play on the odd occasion he did get the ball.
Substitutes
Joshua Zirkzee – 6
United barely create anything for their striker so it was the same tale for him as it was for Hojlund.
Alejandro Garnacho – 7
Immediately added thrust and inventiveness to a ponderous United attack, be it through his dribbling or his shooting.
Diogo Dalot – 6
Not much impact after coming on late.
Kobbie Mainoo – 6
Last year’s FA Cup final hero, this year’s Europa League final last gamble. No impact in injury time.
