Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was officially named the 2024-25 NBA Most Valuable Player on Wednesday. This did not come as a surprise, considering how the 26-year-old had an incredible campaign, leading the Thunder to a league-best 68-14 season.
Steph Curry also had a somewhat memorable campaign. He led the Golden State Warriors to a 48-34 record to finish seventh in the Western Conference, which, in truth, isn't exactly a massive achievement, considering the former back-to-back MVP's career resume.
Nevertheless, Curry was still able to lead the Warriors to the second round of the NBA playoffs this year after missing out on the postseason entirely in 2024.
For his efforts, Curry also got a couple of votes for this year's MVP crown. The 11-time All-Star received two third-place votes to finish ninth in the race.
Curry wasn't exactly a strong contender for this year's MVP title, but the fact that he still got a couple of votes is worth mentioning.
For now, though, Curry and the Warriors are facing what could be an eventful offseason. This team is still very much committed to winning a championship with Curry at the forefront. However, it remains to be seen who the Warriors' front office will surround him with next season as they look to build a title-contending squad around Curry, who will be 38 next season.
Golden State has already been linked to a number of potential big-name targets in the offseason, which means that this squad could look a lot different once the new season starts.
