DANIEL Jebbison was proud to score his first Premier League goal for the Cherries in their 3-1 defeat to Manchester City – and he vowed to continue to take every opportunity he is handed at the club.
It has been a mixed season for Jebbison, the Canadian on loan at Watford for the first half of the season but he struggled, failing to score in 13 appearances for the Hornets.
But he scored on his first game back at the Cherries after he was recalled, netting twice in two games in the FA Cup, against West Brom and Everton.
Jebbison came off the bench at the Etihad Stadium to score a stoppage time consolation, cutting out a poor Matheus Nunes pass and finishing past Ederson when one-on-one with the keeper.
On his goal, Jebbison told the Daily Echo: “I'm proud, it's something I've set a goal to do, score my first goal for the Cherries by the end of the season.
“So I'm just going to keep taking every opportunity I get and try capitalising on it.”
Reflecting on the defeat, Jebbison said: “It's just not the result that we wanted, obviously, but we could only try improving from here on out. That's all we can do.”
On his season, Jebbison said he has learned from the setbacks earlier in the campaign.
“I never feel sorry for myself,” he said.
“As a number nine, you need to be good at forgetting. So I always just forget it, leave it and try making it right.”
There’s one game left of the season for the Cherries, as they host Leicester City at the Vitality Stadium on Sunday.
Jebbison said the squad will brush themselves off after the disappointment in Manchester and aim to end the campaign on a high.
“Just forget about this game and onto the next one for Leicester,” he said.
“And it's something we need to focus on and finish the season strong, get those three points.”
Jebbison has also made his Canada debut this season, having confirmed he would represent the North American nation, despite playing for the England youth sides.
And it will be a busy summer for Canada and Jebbison after the Premier League season concludes.
Jebbison said: “I've got the Gold Cup coming up, big things coming up for me, so it's step by step. After Leicester, I'm focused on Canada, that's how it is.
“No summer for me, but that's what comes with being a footballer.”
