Alejandro Garnacho breaks silence after being dropped by Ruben Amorim for Europa League final, 'See what happens…

Alejandro Garnacho will have been shocked to find his name on the Manchester United bench for the Europa League final.

The Argentine has been an ever-present in Ruben Amorim’s squad en route to the final in Bilbao, so it was a bold call by the head coach.

Instead of Alejandro Garnacho in the left number 10, Amorim chose Mason Mount, with the Englishman impressing since returning from injury including a brace against Athletic Club.

However, the risk didn’t pay off for Amorim, as starting Mount over Garnacho was one big mistake of several he made for the game. Despite only coming on in the 71st minute, Garnacho instantly became the biggest United attacking threat.

United fans also believed Garnacho should have been in the starting line-up, and now the 20-year-old has spoken out himself, with words which do not bode well.

Alejandro Garnacho speaks out after Manchester United lose the Europa League final

Garnacho will have been incredibly frustrated to have his chance of starting a European final taken from him, which showed with how motivated he was to impress upon entering the field of play with 20 minutes remaining.

However, when leaving the stadium, Garnacho was not happy and spoke with ESPN Argentina in the mixed zone, with some words which will go down terribly back at Carrington.

“I played every round to help the team reach the final, and today I only got 20 minutes… I don’t know. I’m going to try to enjoy the summer and see what happens next.”

Garnacho then continued to sum up the season in a way almost every fan will agree with.

“This season was ____, losing the final and not beating anyone in the league.”

This is a bad look from Garnacho, who has clearly let his emotions get the better of him. Garnacho would be justified to be angry, but to question Amorim’s decisions so boldly and publicly will cause problems between the two.

United are already considering selling Garnacho this summer, and his comments suggest that he is also now thinking about it.

Ruben Amorim aims subtle dig at Alejandro Garnacho

While Garnacho has said some things he might come to regret, so has Amorim in the post match media commitments, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano.

Amorim was asked about starting Mount and whether he thinks he should have instead started Garnacho.

“It’s easy to say that now”, Amorim responded.

“Who missed the big opportunity in the first half in the semi-final? Garnacho. Football is like that”.

Amorim needlessly mentioning this could indicate he knows Garnacho’s thoughts on the situation, but regardless it is not looking good for Garnacho’s future at the club.

Hopefully it is all resolved once the dust settles, but Amorim will not like Garnacho’s comments and vice-versa.
