“With me or not…” - Bruno Fernandes drops verdict on Ruben Amorim and his Man Utd future

Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes has spoken out on his future and manager Ruben Amorim after their defeat against Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final.

The Red Devils suffered a 1-0 defeat as Amorim's side ended their season in major disappointment. It's been a disastrous campaign for the Red Devils, summed up by their performance in the final in Bilbao.

United showed little threat on Spurs' goal after going a goal behind thanks to a Brennan Johnson strike, succumbing to defeat as Ange Postecoglou's men lifted the trophy. The disappointment on the United players' faces was clear to see, and they have now ended the campaign without a trophy while sitting in 16th place in the Premier League.

Speaking after the game, United captain Fernandes confirmed that his future was never going to be decided by money, and he wants to be involved in the best competitions and winning trophies...

“My point of view has never been the financial side so if I want to go for a financial side I will always have the option to go, but that’s not the thing. What I want is to win trophies and be involved in the best competitions.”

The Portuguese international certainly doesn't rule out a departure, which could be a worry for United supporters. The former Sporting CP man also discussed manager Amorim, confirming that he believes he's the right man, whether that's with him or not...

“I do think he’s the right man. I don’t think what happened this season shows exactly what he is as a manager. I do think he’s the right manager for the future of this club either with me or not.”

It was certainly an interesting interview with Fernandes, who will no doubt be hurt by what happened on Wednesday night and this season in general. Fernandes has also stood out for the Red Devils regardless of how poorly they've played, and he will have offers to leave if he does decide to do so.

United won't be playing in any European competition next term, which could be a major concern for not only players currently at the club, but some who are considering making the move to Old Trafford.
