Report: How PIF have reacted after Eddie Howe refused to make Newcastle guarantee over…

There has been plenty of speculation regarding Alexander Isak’s future at Newcastle United.

Isak is one of Newcastle United’s best players and still has a contract running until the summer of 2028.

Still, the striker has been linked away for what feels like an age now. Arsenal want to sign Isak, while Liverpool have also been touted a potential landing spot.

All of this must be frustrating for Eddie Howe. Indeed, Howe has admitted he’s annoyed that Newcastle’s best players keep being linked away but his comments after Sunday’s defeat to Arsenal may have sparked concern.

The Newcastle United manager admitted he could not guarantee that Isak would still be at the club next season. However, it seems those behind the scenes at St James’ Park are relaxed.

When asked if he could confidently say that Isak would stay at the club beyond the end of the season, Howe told a press conference: “I never make those guarantees about any player.

“It’s not to do with Alex’s future but I’d be foolish to sit here and do anything like that.”

Still, according to The Chronicle, the hope amongst decision-makers at the club is that qualifying for the Champions League would quash any more talk of a potential exit.

Howe’s side need to beat Everton on Sunday to ensure they claim a place in next season’s competition. PIF are understood to be confident that will happen but even if they ended up in the Europa League, there would still be talks with Isak over a new contract.

PIF set huge Alexander Isak demand that Newcastle United fans will love

The Newcastle United owners have set out a clear message ahead of the summer transfer window.

Regardless of what happens on Sunday with the Champions League, PIF have told Isak he won’t be sold by Newcastle this summer.

That is brilliant to hear. There is no need to sell him, not with three years to go on his contract. If the situation remains the same by next summer, perhaps that’s a time to consider cashing in.

Right now, however, Newcastle hold all the bargaining power. Howe is right not to make guarantees as simply anything can happen in football but there would appear to be little genuine concern.
