"He deserves it" – Alejandro Garnacho calls Tottenham Hotspur star best in his position after Manchester United lose UEFA Europa League final

Manchester United forward Alejandro Garnacho has insisted Tottenham Hotspur man Cristian Romero is the best in the world in his position after the UEFA Europa League final.

Earlier this Wednesday (May 21), Tottenham registered a 1-0 win against the Red Devils at San Mames in Bilbao, Spain. Brennan Johnosn bagged the crucial goal in the 42nd minute of the match, which was dominated by Ruben Amorim's outfit.

After the end of the Europa League final, Garnacho was asked to remark on Romero's stellar performance against Manchester United. He replied to ESPN Argentina (h/t Metro):

"We know Cuti, he's the best centre-back in the world. He deserves it, congratulations to him."

Romero, who is Garnacho's Argentina teammate, started his side's clash in Bilbao beside Micky van de Ven. He completed 12 of his 13 passes, won six of his nine duels, and also won one of his one tackle on Wednesday.

On the other hand, Romero has allegedly drawn attention from the likes of Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid of late. But, he remained tight-lipped when asked about the links after the Europa League final (h/t Metro):

"I can't stop what is said outside about what will become of my future. I always give everything for this club and I give my all to this shirt. I came with the mentality of winning, of making history, I wanted to leave my name engraved in Tottenham. Now I'm going to celebrate with my family, who give me everything and I owe it to them."

Bruno Fernandes opens up on Manchester United future after loss to Tottenham Hotspur

After his club's recent 1-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes hinted that he could leave the club. He opined (h/t Metro):

"I will be here until the club tells me it is time to leave. I am available to make the club have great days again. The day the club thinks I am too much, or it is time to leave, football is like that and you never know. If the club thinks it is time to leave, because they want to make some money, that is what it is and football is like that sometimes."

Fernandes, who started the game against Tottenham, has registered 19 goals and 19 assists in 56 total outings for Manchester United this term.

The 30-year-old Red Devils star's current deal will run out in June 2027.
