Leeds United supporters can afford themselves a rye smile after Man United fell to defeat in the Europa League final.

The result in Bilbao was the cherry on top for the Elland Road club after they secured the Championship title earlier this month.

Another sprinkle of joy was former Leeds man Archie Gray making a second-half cameo against their bitter rivals.

After the game, social media was flooded with reactions, with a current Leeds man taking a jibe at Harry Maguire.

In a game that was difficult to predict, Brennan Johnson delivered the only goal during a contest of little quality.

Spurs will not mind one bit, though, as they lifted their first trophy since the League Cup in 2008.

The result means that Tottenham will play Champions League football next season, while United face a season out of Europe.

Leeds will be relishing the opportunity to play the Red Devils next season and will fancy their chances of getting a result.

Indeed, the fixture could get even spicier if Gray and Maguire meet after the former’s social media post.

Last year, Maguire mocked Leeds by sharing an image of their play-off defeat, with a comment underneath.

Maguire said: “Hope everyone having a fantastic Sunday,” followed by a heart emoji.

Gray reacted following the Europa League final with an image of Tottenham players celebrating and a comment above.

He said: “Hope everyone had a fantastic Wednesday.”

Harry Gray can follow in brother’s footsteps

Whatever is in the Gray gene pool is clearly working wonders.

The Gray family has a long connection with Leeds that stretches back several generations.

Now, it is the turn of Harry, who is continuing the long family tradition of representing Leeds United.

At 16, he has a huge future ahead of him, and he will be eyeing the rise of his older brother as a benchmark for success.

Such was the impact of Archie at Elland Road that he secured a lucrative move to Tottenham last summer.

The word is that Harry is a player of similar ilk and that it will only be a matter of time until he makes his mark on the first team.

Unlike his brother, the Leeds faithful will hope that he hangs around a little longer in Yorkshire, and Premier League football will certainly aid that cause.

Having made his first senior appearance, the younger Gray has a golden future ahead of him.
