Manchester United failed to get across the line in the Europa League final on Wednesday night, being beaten 1-0 in the final by Tottenham.
It was a European nightmare rather than a dream for Ruben Amorim, who sees himself under more scrutiny than before the final.
Amorim made several mistakes in the final defeat, with Manchester United’s players also failing to do themselves proud with flat performances all around.
Among the most disappointing was Bruno Fernandes, who was far from his usual brilliant self. On MUTV after the game, pundit Sammy McIlroy admitted it was Fernandes’ worst performance of the season, and it very well may have been.
Considering the 30-year-old is usually the standout player, Fernandes was poor in the final for United, which left the Portuguese midfielder emotional and distraught afterwards.

Bruno Fernandes’ agent sends Manchester United captain a message
After the defeat, Fernandes’ agent, Miguel Ruben Pinho, took to Instagram with a message to the United captain, which will raise speculation over his exit this summer.
Posting on his story, he wrote: “Sometimes life is just unfair, you deserved more, you are an exceptional professional. Stay strong Bruno!”

This message has been taken by many fans as the agent suggesting Fernandes deserves more from United, has long been true.
It would be a concern if the agent is suggesting doubts over his future, considering the record-breaking finances on offer from Al-Hilal for Fernandes, which now is a move some might expect United to consider with the financial hit of not qualifying for the Champions League.

“The day the club thinks I am too much, or it is time to leave… football is like that, and you never know. If the club thinks it is time to leave, because they want to make some money, that is what it is, and football is like that sometimes.”

Further, Fernandes was also quoted by Fabrizio Romano, saying that financial reasons are not playing a part in his decisions for the future, but rather, he wants to play in the best competitions and win trophies.
