Jarrad Branthwaite has been one of Everton’s best players this season, but they are now in danger of losing their prized asset.

Everton are set for a big summer as they move into their new stadium, and will hope to recruit strongly in the transfer window as several players are set to leave.

A number of stars are leaving on free transfers, including Abdoulaye Doucoure, and there are already a lot of gaps to fill in the squad.

However, Everton may now need to replace Branthwaite as well, but they could be handed significant funds to do so.

Chelsea keen on huge Branthwaite transfer

Chelsea are now keen on signing Branthwaite, and have stepped up their pursuit of the Everton centre-back.

Branthwaite was wanted by Manchester United last summer, but while Everton’s huge valuation put them off, this may not deter Chelsea from signing him.

Journalist Sebastien Vidal has now reported that Chelsea are readying a huge offer to sign Branthwaite, with their interest in the defender serious.

“Chelsea are pushing to sign Jarrad Branthwaite. The Everton centre-back has been one of the Premier League’s breakout stars, and the Blues are ready to test the Toffees’ resolve with a big offer,” he posted on X (22 May).

Branthwaite sale can help Everton rebuild squad

Losing Branthwaite would be a devastating blow for Everton, but there is a potential upside if Chelsea offer a hugely significant fee for him.

Everton will need to replace a lot of gaps in the squad this summer while also looking for upgrades, and David Moyes will be keen to stamp his own mark onto the team.

Although Everton are moving into the Hill Dickinson Stadium, which should see a long-term growth in revenue, a huge sale this summer could give them significant financial firepower.

Branthwaite leaving as a homegrown player would give them a huge boost in terms of profit and sustainability regulations, and they could grow as a team as a result.

However, losing someone of Branthwaite’s quality would be damaging, and it would be tough to replace the defender in the short term at least.
