Newcastle United send five-word message to Crystal Palace and Tottenham after FA Cup and Europa …

Newcastle United have reacted to Crystal Palace and Tottenham Hotspur winning trophies in the last week.

The two clubs are not the only ones that have ended a major drought this season. The Magpies lifted the Carabao Cup in March to end a 56-year wait for a major trophy, and a 70-year wait for a domestic honour.

Newcastle United fans attended the Carabao Cup trophy parade in droves. An estimated 300,000 fans headed to the city centre to see the players on an open-top bus carrying the trophy.

After the parade, cup final hero Dan Burn said Newcastle fans will never celebrate a cup win like that again, saying that the day was a point in history for the club.

Newcastle fans will see similar celebrations in the coming days after Crystal Palace won the FA Cup and Tottenham Hotspur won the Europa League. Both teams have ended long waits for a trophy, with Tottenham winning their first in 17 years, and Palace picking up their first-ever major honour.

With an unpredictable season coming to an end, Newcastle have reacted to the triumphs in a brilliant social media post.

Newcastle United congratulate Crystal Palace and Tottenham on their trophy wins

After the Carabao Cup win, Newcastle received praise from numerous avenues. Alan Pardew called Newcastle boss Eddie Howe ‘immortal‘ after he ended the Magpies’ trophy drought.

Additionally, Manchester United star Harry Maguire applauded Kieran Trippier for winning another major trophy.

Now, it was Newcastle’s turn to distribute the praise, and they did exactly that in a TikTok video. The video was a picture of Newcastle, Crystal Palace and Tottenham’s squads lifting their trophies with an audio clip in the background that said: “Look at us, who would’ve thought?”

The caption of the video also said: “Trophy drought? What trophy drought?” while also tagging Palace and Spurs with handshake emojis.

Their trophy wins confirm that Palace will play in the Europa League next season, and Spurs have qualified for the Champions League despite a poor season domestically.

Newcastle United still have something to play for this season

With all other domestic trophies wrapped up, there is just one game left in the Premier League season, which turns out to be a huge one for the Magpies.

Newcastle host Everton at St James’ Park for their final game of the season, where a win is needed to secure Champions League qualification.

There is just one point separating fourth and seventh in the table, so anything can happen. A positive for Newcastle is that Chelsea and Nottingham Forest, two teams in the hunt for Champions League football, play each other on Sunday. One of those teams is highly likely to miss out on the top five.

Alan Shearer admitted Newcastle’s last game will be tense, but backed his former club to get the job done on home soil.

Elsewhere, Shaka Hislop agreed with Shearer, saying Newcastle will be able to get past Everton and return to the Champions League.
