"In The Next 24 Hours" - Fabrizio Romano Provides Exciting Update As Liverpool Close In On Transfer

Jeremie Frimpong is expected to sign a contract with Liverpool “in the next 24 hours,” according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The Reds have triggered the Bayer Leverkusen player’s €35m (£30m) release clause and he is set to seal his transfer to Anfield imminently.

Frimpong has already completed both parts of his medical ahead of the move and an announcement from the Merseyside club is expected very soon.

The wingback is set to replace the departing Trent Alexander-Arnold, who will join Real Madrid on a free transfer over the coming weeks.

Frimpong did have interest from other clubs

Manchester City and Manchester United have been linked with the Netherlands international in recent months, while Barcelona have also considered making an approach for the player.

However, speculation about Liverpool’s interest has been growing ever since it was reported back in March that head coach Arne Slot had directly spoken to Frimpong.

Who will Liverpool sign next?

Romano has also revealed that the Reds have made contact about signing Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth. At this stage, no formal bid has been lodged for the Hungarian international but he is clearly a player that the club want to bring in. He could cost £45m.

Frimpong’s current teammate Florian Wirtz is another player who is a target for the Premier League champions. Following a secret meeting with the German international and his representatives last week, it seems Slot’s team have managed to outmanoeuvre City, who have subsequently cooled their interest in the attacking midfielder.

Many still feel that Bayern Munich are favourites to secure the 21-year-old’s signature, but a lot depends on whether they can afford to match the €150m (£126m) price tag, in addition to Leverkusen’s willingness to sell him to a division rival.
