Ergin Ataman on EuroLeague's growth: 'Much better than NBA'

Panathinaikos head coach Ergin Ataman firmly believes no league in the world matches the quality of basketball played in the EuroLeague.

With the EuroLeague Final Four in Abu Dhabi fast approaching, all eyes are on who will lift the coveted trophy. But beyond the competition itself, the bigger conversation continues to revolve around a potential NBA expansion into Europe.

Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens head coach Ergin Ataman weighed in on the topic in the EuroLeague Final Four opening press conference, offering strong praise for the level of basketball played in the EuroLeague.

"In the last 25 years, the EuroLeague has improved," Ataman said. "In my opinion, the competition and basketball played in the EuroLeague is much better than in the NBA. I believe many people in Europe have stopped following the NBA and are now more focused on EuroLeague basketball."

As for the upcoming showdowns in the Final Four, Ataman once again exuded his trademark confidence in his squad.

"I'm sure my team is ready to fight, ready to win — and I'm confident we'll win another EuroLeague title, just like we did last year,” he stated.
