Ruben Amorim must shoulder much of the blame after Man United lost to Tottenham in the Europa League final, according to their former chief scout.
Mick Brown, who worked at Old Trafford for over a decade during the club’s most successful period and remains very well-connected there, exclusively told Football Insider that the boss can no longer deflect from what has been a “disaster” of a season.
This comes after Brown told Football Insider Amorim will face serious pressure at Man United if they miss out on the trophy, but is unlikely to be sacked immediately.
Concerns have emerged throughout the manager’s tenure about the style of play and his failure to alter his plans to suit the players in his squad.
Brown previously warned Football Insider that serious questions would be asked of Amorim as a result of his refusal to adapt his style of play.

Ruben Amorim under pressure after Man United ‘disaster’
Football Insider revealed earlier this month that Amorim is expected to be Man United manager at the start of next season regardless of the outcome of the final.

Brown, who has a wealth of experience working closely alongside elite-level managers including Sir Alex Ferguson and Ron Atkinson at Old Trafford, insisted the boss is quickly running out of excuses as pressure continues to grow.
“There’s one thing I keep hearing about Amorim,” he told Football Insider.
“He wanted to start next season, and they told him ‘no, it’s now or never’.
“So he decided to accept the job, and quickly decided after he arrived that his players aren’t good enough to play the way he wants to play.
“That’s fair enough, but then you have to adapt your game so that you can get the best out of them.
“You can’t just keep playing in one way, losing games, and saying if the players were good enough you’d be getting better results, that’s not how it works.
“Every manager has to get the best out of the players he’s got and in a way that suits them.
“All they’ve done in my mind is practice losing, they’re in a rut and I don’t know how they get out now.
“Losing the Europa League final is a disaster for Man United, and it’s come after what has already been a disastrous season.
“Yes, the players aren’t good enough, some of these players are lucky to be pulling on a red shirt, but the manager is quickly running out of excuses.
“He has to take the blame, because continuing to play in a way that doesn’t fit the players is entirely his fault and down to his refusal to adapt.”

Rasmus Hojlund update emerges after Amorim green light
Alongside growing pressure on the manager’s position, a number of United’s first-team players have been widely criticised for their performances.
Brown told Football Insider on 22 May that Man United are planning to sell Rasmus Hojlund and Amorim will let him move on to fund a replacement.
However, they will aim to recoup a significant proportion of the £72million spent to sign him from Atalanta in 2023, with their price set at £50million.
Brown told Football Insider on 17 April that Juventus are among a number of Italian clubs watching Hojlund as United are expected to cut their losses.
