Liverpool now want to sign 'one of the most dangerous finishers in La Liga' alongside Rodrygo - …

Liverpool are keen on handing Julian Alvarez a return to the Premier League this summer, according to reports in Spain, and it is "possible" that the Argentine forward makes an early La Liga exit.

Alvarez joined Atletico Madrid from Manchester City last summer in a reported £81.5m deal after the 25-year-old pushed to leave the Etihad. He has been a massive hit at the Metropolitano and is currently Los Colchoneros' top scorer with 36 goals across competitions.

The Reds already know how talented the 44-cap Argentina international is, having seen him grow in the Premier League at rivals City. He's since stepped out of Erling Haaland's shadow to become one of Europe's most highly-regarded forwards.

Liverpool "Very Interested" In Alvarez

The Reds are looking to replace Atleti-linked Darwin Nunez

Spanish journalist Matias Palacios reported on El Chiringuito TV that "meetings" are set to take place next week amid several clubs showing interest in Alvarez. Liverpool are notably mentioned as being "very interested" in the 2022 FIFA World Cup winner, who still has five years on his Atleti contract.

The Reds could persuade the La Liga club to sit down at the negotiating table with an offer that is higher than the fee paid for the Argentine last summer. This would eclipse the club's transfer record, £75m paid for Virgil van Dijk in the summer of 2019, and make an exit "possible".

Other clubs are also keeping tabs, including Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich, but a return to the Premier League could appease Alvarez. His City exit wasn't the most ceremonious, and he could look to prove a point to Pep Guardiola by continuing as "one of the best attacking talents in Europe" and fire their rivals to dominance in the top-flight.

Liverpool are expected to replace Darwin Nunez this summer amid the Uruguayan frontman's failure to convince Arne Slot. The 25-year-old has been linked with Atleti, and there are suggestions the club could sanction a cut-price £50m sale to "boost their chances" of signing Alvarez, whom La Liga is calling "one of the most dangerous finishers."

The Merseysiders have already got to grips with a "big summer" on the recruitment front, replacing Real Madrid-bound Trent Alexander-Arnold with Bayer Leverkusen's Jeremie Frimpong. They are also in a two-horse race with Bayern for his teammate Florian Wirtz and are informed on what's required to sign the German attacking midfielder.
