**A report has claimed that Newcastle United are to be offered the chance to sign a Premier League striker who has missed most of this season for Everton through injury.**
No, I'm not talking about Dominic Calvert-Lewin, although I'm sure we've not heard the last of that link by a long shot.
Everton has been the temporary home for a striker Newcastle had on their radar a couple of years ago ... Chelsea's Armando Broja.
Newcastle had been looking at a deal for the young striker two seasons ago before he headed to Southampton on loan.

Armando Broja could be offered to Newcastle
Armando Broja is set to be offered out to clubs by Chelsea this summer
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Broja has since had loan spells at Fulham and Everton, the latter of which saw him make just 13 appearances, including just four starts for the Toffees in a season hampered by injury.
Chelsea have to shed their wage bill and sell some players this summer as they run dangerously close to breaching PSR. If only they could cheat the system by selling their own assets back to themselves or something.
Anyway, [The Chronicle](https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/newcastle-united-complete-first-incoming-31697397) are reporting that Chelsea could be set to offer £30 million-rated Armando Broja to Newcastle, among other clubs, this summer, as they look to trim the squad.
Signing Broja wouldn't be the worst idea Newcastle have had
-----------------------------------------------------------
Broja is still only 23, so it's not a terrible idea. He has Premier League experience, Newcastle have already scouted him, so if the price is right, and let's be honest, it needs to be below the £30 million Chelsea once wanted for him, then it could be worth a shot.
Armando Broja missed a big chunk of the season with an Achilles injury and then, just five games after his comeback, succumbed to an ankle injury during the game against Brighton. It's also worth noting that Broja missed a big chunk of the 2022/23 season with an ACL injury.
Newcastle would obviously have to assess the situation with the injuries that kept him from the pitch this season, but if they check out okay, then it could be worth a punt for the Algeria international.
That being said, we'd put him quite a way down the list. Perhaps as a last resort, signing.
