England star Bellingham determined to play in FIFA Club World Cup after delaying surgery

Jude Bellingham will reportedly delay any surgery on his troublesome shoulder until after this summer's FIFA Club World Cup.

The England midfielder has suffered from a persistent shoulder problem since 2023 and had been expected to finally have surgery on the problem at the end of the season.

However, it now appears that the 21-year-old will wait to rectify the problem so he can play a part in the newly revamped competition in the USA.

Bellingham has been seen wearing a strapping on his shoulder for both club and country, and has previously missed games for Madrid and England at the start of 2023 due to the issue.

The decision to have him wait until after the Club World Cup will mean that Bellingham will miss pre-season and the start of the 2025-26 campaign, and makes him a major doubt for England's World Cup qualifiers against Andorra and Serbia in September.

He will, however, be available for selection for the Three Lions' upcoming games in June against Andorra and the friendly against Senegal when Thomas Tuchel names his squad on Friday.

England's clash with Senegal at The City Ground takes place less than a week before the Club World Cup begins on June 14, so even if he is included in the squad, Bellingham is unlikely to play a part in the game.

Real Madrid will head to the US as part of Group H and begin their tournament on June 18, as they kick off against Al Hilal in Miami.

The Spanish giants, who will be under new management after Carlo Ancelotti's departure from the club, then face group games against Pachuca and Red Bull Salzburg.
